The trial, heard by HHJ Goose QC, the Honorary Recorder of Sheffield, involved complex issues of law and fact. The knifeman, Cory Walters, was convicted of murder. His accomplice, Connor O’Brien, who on the Crown’s case shouted to “Stop” during the attack, was convicted of manslaughter. Two other defendants were convicted of Perverting the Course of Public Justice following attempts to intimidate the principal prosecution witness.
