Paul had a career in the military before working as a Probation Officer, he was called to the bar in 2005, practising as a solicitor until joining Chambers in 2016. His practice is predominantly based in the Crown Court both prosecuting and defending a wide range of offences including assault, sexual offences, drugs, fraud, environmental and road traffic offences.

Preston Crown Court – Successful application to dismiss in relation to an allegation of ABH on the defendant’s two-year-old daughter.
Preston Crown Court – Defendant pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child and numerous counts of possession of indecent images. The sentencing involved the consideration of the dangerousness provisions.
Carlisle Crown Court – Breach of a Restraining Order – involved fitness to plead arguments.
Preston Crown Court – 5 handed affray – involving interpreters.
Preston Crown Court- Defendant facing two counts of “stranger” rape.
Preston Crown Court – Defendant charged with a number of counts of sexual activity with a child. This case involves a considerable amount of third party material.
Carlisle Crown Court – Defendant was charged with 6 counts of historic Rape and indecent assault of his step-children.
Durham Crown Court – Defendant was charged with smuggling prohibited items into HMP Haverigg, child abduction and blackmail. The child abduction and blackmail offences were committed whilst she was on bail for the original offence. This was an interesting case and involved Interpol and both the Turkish and Dutch authorities. There were also jurisdictional issues as she had committed the blackmail whilst she was on the run with her daughter in Turkey. She was sentenced by HHJ Moreland.
Carlisle Crown Court – Conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
Carlisle Crown Court – Arson with Intent to Endanger Life, Child Neglect and Perverting the course of Justice. The defendant had set fire to her council property with her child inside in an attempt to secure new accommodation.
