New Park Court ranked as a first tier “premier set” by Legal 500

16/09/2015

We are delighted to announce that once again, New Park Court has been ranked as a first tier set in the new edition of the Legal 500.

Our Chambers has been described as a “premier set” holding “a number of vastly experienced silks and senior juniors, and a good mix of reliable and up-and-coming juniors”. Our experience for crime is noted as one of our strong suits, as is our regulatory work; “another bedrock of Chambers”.

For Commercial, banking and Insolvency we are “well regarded at both the junior and senior ends”. Our expertise in this area is for contractual disputes arising from share purchase and shareholder agreements, franchising agreements and the carriage of goods. Ashley Tucker is recommended for his broad practice that “covers company, professional negligence and wills and probate cases” and James Normington “regularly deals with commercial, contractual, insolvency and partnership disputes.”

For Construction, planning and environment, Simon Phillips QC is once again recommended for his work in environmental law. He is “experienced in prosecuting fisheries quota cases.”

Our Criminal Team, regularly instructed in large scale and high profile investigations, is regarded as “one of the most prominent sets for crime in the North of England.”

Individual members recommended are:

  • Robert Smith QC: “His practice includes cases that are scientifically and medically complex, or involve psychiatric issues.”
  • Alistair MacDonald QC: “If you want a real leader on the case, then look no further; he really is that good.”

  • Nicholas de la Poer: “His advocacy is always measured and calm, but also brutally effective.”

For Employment, Steven White “cuts through matters without fence-sitting.”

In Family, we “stand out for our expertise in (often high-value) financial remedy and complex public law and Hague Convention cases”. Our team is noted for the recent growth areas of TOLATA disputes and Inheritance Act matters.

  • Valerie Sterling: “She is extremely thorough and her attention to detail is phenomenal.”
  • Sally Terris: “A strong all-rounder; her practice includes high-value financial remedy cases and Children Act applications.”
  • Chloe Hudson: „”Undertakes a significant amount of work for parents in care proceedings.”
  • Natalia Escoriza: “Her wide-ranging practice covers all aspects of public and private children law, and financial remedies.”

Our Personal Injury Team team is experienced in cases ranging from those of modest value (such as minor whiplash claims) to complex, high-value, multi-track matters involving catastrophic injuries. Our “areas of strength include clinical negligence, industrial disease and occupational stress claims.”

Nicholas Mason is recommended for Public Law „”a significant proportion of the work he does for local authorities is judicial review related.”

Members of our Regulatory team are also ranked highly in the directory:
