The High Court has published its judgment in the case of R v B, in which Nicholas de la Poer, instructed by Keith Allen of ABR solicitors, successfully appealed to the High Court the excessive and unlawful sentence passed on a youth.
The case overrules an older case which had been used up and down the country to sentence youths to longer than they could have received had they been adults in certain circumstances. This case marks the end of that unfair and counter-intuitive practice.
