82 year old defendant acquitted following a death by dangerous driving trial

09/02/2017

Alistair MacDonald QC represented the defendant accused of causing death by dangerous or careless driving. The defendant was alleged to have mistaken the accelerator for a brake pedal and killed a pedestrian. Mr MacDonald QC successfully argued that there was a potential problem with the car’s electronics leading to an un-commanded engine surge.

The defendant was acquitted after a seven day trial of both counts.
