George Ormond was charged with historic sex offences against young footballers both at local club level and in relation to young players at Newcastle United as well as participants on a Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. After a six week trial, George Ormond was convicted of 36 offences against 18 complainants. He was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court to a total term of 20 years imprisonment.
