Paul Greaney QC represents international company in ICO prosecution

01/10/2019

On 1st October 2019, the prosecution offered no evidence against an international company facing data protection charges. The case against other defendants, including the Managing Director of the company also failed on the same basis. The decision followed a ruling by a judge at Warwick Crown Court on the construction of section 55 of the Data Protection Act 1998 which in turn followed a submission made by Paul on behalf of all defendants. This brought a trial scheduled to last for 6 weeks to an end. Paul led Lee Hughes of Lincoln House Chambers. They were instructed by Erin Shoesmith of Addleshaw Goddard.
