John Snaith, then a serving police officer, spent over £20,000 on drugs and prostitutes in just over a year. His lifestyle was described as one of “depravity” by the sentencing Judge. Snaith was also associating with a man who had been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and during the course of that association gave advise as to his possible responses to that investigation, as well as failing to report criminal activity of which he was aware. On the day of his arrest Snaith had been on “Grindr” offering to supply drugs to anyone who wanted to participate in sexual activity at his home. He was sentenced, at Newcastle Crown Court, to 2 years imprisonment.
