New Park Court Chambers and the Law Commission: Confiscation under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002

05/10/2020

New Park Court Chambers has been invited to host a webinar discussion as part of the Law Commission’s Consultation process following the publication by the Commission of a Consultation Paper on the post-conviction Confiscation regime in criminal cases. The objectives of the Law Commission are to consider improvement to the current statutory regime to improve the process by which orders are made, to ensure the fairness of the regime and to optimise enforcement of confiscation orders.

Matthew Donkin, Lee Fish and Richard Holland of New Park Court Chambers, along with David Allan of the Law Commission, will host the event, the subject of which will be the proposals within the Consultation Paper on the issue of determining Benefit in criminal lifestyle cases. The event will be in the form of a series of short addresses on the content of Part 4 of the Consultation Paper, followed by an open discussion about the proposals.

The Consultation Paper may be found on the Law Commission website, along with a link to the online questionnaire for the purpose of responding to the Consultation, and a link to register for this webinar.
