The Chairman of the Manchester Arena Inquiry has published Volume 1 of his Report into the terrorist attack which took place on 22nd May 2017. Between September and December 2020 the Inquiry heard detailed evidence about the security arrangements at the Arena. Volume 1 contains the Chairman’s findings in relation to the adequacy of those arrangements.
Volume 1 has been published while the Inquiry continues to hear evidence in relation to the emergency response. This evidence will form the subject of Volume 2 of the Report. That evidence is expected to conclude in October. The Inquiry will then turn to consider the radicalisation of the terrorist and whether there were opportunities to stop him in the months leading up to the attack. This evidence will form the basis of the Chairman’s third and final volume of his report.
Paul Greaney QC is instructed as Counsel to the Inquiry, together with Nick de la Poer QC, both instructed by Tim Suter of Field Fisher.
