Jeremy Barton successfully defends a man facing allegations contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against The Persons Act

16/09/2021

The defendant was alleged to have used a car as a weapon and driven at speed towards another male causing extreme injuries. The defence case rested on the narrow issue of intent and whether or not the jury could be sure that the injuries were caused deliberately as opposed to accidentally when the defendant tried to frighten the complainant rather than cause really serious harm. The defendant was acquitted unanimously.
