Alistair Macdonald QC has appeared in the successful prosecution of a mother and her partner in relation to the tragic death of 16 month old baby “Star”.
Savannah Brockhill, the partner, was convicted of the murder of the baby by inflicting catastrophic injuries. Star’s mother Frankie Smith was convicted of causing or allowing her death.
The trial lasted 7 weeks at Bradford Crown Court before Mrs Justice Lambert DBE and has attracted widespread publicity due to the nature of the injuries. The case involved complex medico-legal issues.
Mr Macdonald QC was instructed by CPS West Yorkshire and was assisted by junior counsel Mr Howard Shaw and disclosure counsel Ms Georgina Goring.
Both will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday 15th December 2021.
