Oliver Connor successful in first Court of Appeal appearance

On 26 September 2022, Oliver Connor appeared in the Court of Appeal before Lady Justice Simler and Mr Justice Pepperall.

Oliver represented the Appellant who had been sentenced to 20 months immediate custody for an offence of s.20 grievous bodily harm. It was argued on behalf of the Appellant that such a sentence was manifestly excessive and wrong in principle noting that the Sentencing Judge had failed to take into account a number of relevant factors of powerful personal mitigation.

The appeal was allowed and the sentence was substituted with one of 15 months custody suspended for 2 years.

It was Oliver’s first appearance before the Court of Appeal.
