Jason Pitter KC leading Geraldine Kelly appeared for the prosecution of 2 defendants aged 13 and 14years old for the murder of a 14 year old associate in relation to an apparent feud and drugs dispute.
The tragic case was one of high sensitivity due to the young ages of the deceased and the defendants and also the high number of child witnesses that gave evidence during the 5-week case. Both defendants (who cannot be named) were both convicted of murder.
The case involved complex character issues arising from the circumstances, joint enterprise, self defence, loss of control and the character of the deceased.
The case received national publicity due to the circumstances of the death in particular the ages of those involved.
Both were convicted of murder and will be sentenced later this year.
