Tom Storey KC leading Ben Campbell are representing the prosecution in the trial of Hassan Jhangur and Mohammed Jhangur which began on 17th June 2024 at Sheffield Crown Court and which relates to the death of Christian Marriott on 27th December 2023. Mr Marriott was killed by a car being driven by Hassan Jhangur, which drove into him as he tried to help an apparently unconscious woman lying on the road in College Close in the Burngreave area of Sheffield. Several other people were injured in the collision, some very seriously. Hassan Jhangur then stabbed another person several times with a knife. This incident was set against the background of a dispute between the Defendants’ family and the Khan family, which arose over the marriage of Amaani Jhangur to Hasan Khan. The Defendants are charged with offences of murder, attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and perverting the course of justice. The trial is anticipated to last for approximately 4 – 5 weeks before Mrs Justice Lambert.
