The oral hearings in the Thirlwall Inquiry, chaired by Lady Justice Thirlwall, are set to begin today, Tuesday 10th September 2024, at Liverpool Town Hall.
The Inquiry has been set up to examine events at the Countess of Chester Hospital and their implications following the trial and subsequent convictions of former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby of murder and attempted murder of babies at the hospital.
The oral hearings will commence with opening statements from Counsel to the Inquiry and from legal representatives on behalf of Core Participants. The Inquiry will then move to the oral evidence which will start with the accounts from the parents whose babies were the victims of Lucy Letby’s crimes.
Nick is part of the Counsel to the Inquiry team led by Rachel Langdale KC.
The Inquiry’s oral hearings are currently expected to last until the end of the year.
