Professional Disciplinary Law
In this area, New Park Court Chambers has been awarded Tier 1 Status. A reflection of chambers’ growing reputation within this specialism.
‘The professional discipline team at New Park Court Chambers has established strength in appearing before the GMC, the GDC and the NMC. The ‘persuasive ‘Jason Pitter KC is very well-known for acting in police misconduct cases.
Adam Birkby’s practice includes acting on behalf of the GMC in restoration, fitness to practise and review hearings before the MPTS, as well as representing police officers in misconduct proceedings; in a recent matter, he successfully defended a police officer against allegations of gross misconduct arising from use of force when arresting a child at a school for pupils with behavioural problems.

Crime
For Crime, New Park Court Chambers has retained Tier 1 status with 12 members of chambers recommended, of which 4 of those are ranked in Tier 1.
“The criminal team at New Park Court Chambers depth of expertise and knowledge is second to none. In recent work for the group, the ‘impressive’ Nicholas Lumley KC defended a woman from Teesside who was charged under the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act with carrying out an illegal abortion on herself during the first UK Covid-19 lockdown; Cox was found not guilty after prosecutors offered no evidence.
In a separate matter, the ‘very personable’ Nicholas de la Poer KC successfully prosecuted a man who was convicted of attempting to collect information useful for terrorism; the defendant was alleged to have been filming security arrangements around an Iranian dissident television station based in Chiswick.
