Jeremy Barton successfully secured a not guilty verdict after a trial for attempted murder at Leeds Crown Court

04/10/2024

The defendant in this case accepted that he stabbed the complainant using a kitchen knife 10 times. However, he denied an intention to kill the complainant.

The case arose out of domestic circumstances and involved careful cross examination of a vulnerable witness and scientific evidence from a pathologist. It was the defence case that the injuries whilst serious, coupled with a factual basis, supported an intention to cause serious harm rather than an intention to kill.

The jury agreed and returned a majority not guilty verdict.

The case was listed before HHJ Bayliss and Jeremy Barton was instructed by Kamran’s solicitors.
