Eleanor Fry and Maryam Ahmad prosecute County lines case

12/03/2025

Eleanor Fry and Maryam Ahmad prosecuted a series of County lines drugs conspiracies to supply cocaine and heroin in Harrogate, which had been investigated by North Yorkshire Police with cooperation from other forces, in Operation Jackal. Sanchez Heffernan and another man were convicted by a jury after the most recent Operation Jackal trial, relating to their involvement with the “Teddy” drugs line, which exploited children and vulnerable adults to sell class A drugs in Harrogate.  They were sentenced, together with their co-defendants who had pleaded guilty at an earlier stage, at the Crown Court at Leeds on 11 March 2025, following a hearing which took place over the course of two days.

Sanchez Heffernan was sentenced to a total of 23 years’ imprisonment for his leading role in the Teddy Line and in multiple other drugs conspiracies committed between 2018 and 2024.  On the same date, the court also sentenced the defendants in Operation Linkward for their involvement in  conspiracies to supply class A and B drugs; of those men, three had pleaded guilty at an earlier stage and three were convicted after trial in November-December 2024.

In total, the court handed down sentences of over 90 years’ imprisonment.
