An Application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court has been prepared by Robert Smith KC and lodged with the Supreme Court in the case of R v Sheikh following the Court of Appeal’s decision to quash the convictions. The Supreme Court granted permission to appeal the decision of the Court of Appeal on 28 November 2025. In the meantime, practitioners who are involved in cases pursuant to section 5 Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act, and who have read the judgment of the Court of Appeal in this case will wish to be aware of the above since the Court of Appeal’s judgment is subject to challenge on a number of grounds
