Jason Pitter KC appears for appellant in quashed murder conviction after 38 years in prison

13/05/2025

Jason Pitter KC appeared for Peter Sullivan, who had spent the last 38 years in prison following his conviction for the brutal murder of Diane Sindall in 1987.

This case brings to an end what is understood to be one of the longest-running “miscarriage of justice” cases of its type, following a previous appeals and engagement by the Criminal Cases Review Commission.  The case was finally referred to the Court of Appeal and the conviction ultimately quashed in light of new DNA evidence. The case has received widespread national publicity.

Jason led Jim Littlehales and was instructed by Sarah Myatt, both of Switalski’s Solicitors, Leeds.
