A Polish couple living in Leeds, lured vulnerable young women from Europe, mainly Poland, to the UK with false promises of legitimate jobs before forcing them into prostitution. Some of the victims were as young as 17 and were coerced into working long hours — up to 20 hours a day — in brothels, with all their earnings taken away under the threat of fabricated “debts” they were told they owed. The gang’s operation stretched back years and was uncovered after a lengthy investigation by West Yorkshire Police, who identified 14 victims aged between 17 and 31.
The defendants kept the profits, an estimated £170,000, to fund a lavish lifestyle, including owning multiple luxury sports cars. After fleeing the UK when first charged, the first two defendants were extradited back to stand trial alongside two co-defendants. They were convicted at Leeds Crown Court on 18th December 2025,of modern slavery and prostitution-related offences.
Sentences totalling 27.5 years were handed down to the main offenders on 23rd January 2025.
The case has attracted substantial press attention, both national and international.
