Geraldine Kelly KC, leading Chloe Hudson, instructed by Sajad Chaudhury of Harewood Law, secure the only acquittal in a 7 handed murder after a 7 week trial at Leeds Crown Court. Their lay client was unanimously acquitted of both murder and manslaughter.
Seven Defendants were charged with murder following a large-scale incident of disorder at an address in Dewsbury Moor. The Defendants then travelled in two cars to Crow Nest Park where the prosecution alleged an ongoing and heated feud continued. This culminated in what was described by the prosecution as a pursuit of the deceased, ending in a fatal knife fight. The case was complicated by CCTV that captured the killing and the complex family dynamics between the deceased and the Defendants.
