News & Events
Our pupil barristers, Caitlin Smith, Oliver Kilvington and Samantha Brown will be commencing their Second Sixes today and will be available to receive instructions, assuming responsibility for their own caseload, including attendance in court.
During their First Six, they have all spent time shadowing members of chambers, observing a range of hearings across a number of practice areas, including Crime, Regulatory, and Family.
Prior to pupillage, Caitlin Smith worked as a Court Clerk at Leeds Crown Court for over 2 years, giving her in-depth exposure to a wide variety of Crown Court proceedings and a good understanding of criminal procedure, evidential issues and sentencing principles
Oliver Kilvington gained experience working at a law firm specialising in criminal defence, business crime and regulatory law before joining New Park Court Chambers and currently sits as a chairperson on the Football Association’s National Serious Case Panel.
Throughout pupillage, Samantha has reviewed case papers and drafted legal documents. Samantha has written Bar Standard reviews, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of a case and noting further steps required to become trial-ready. She has also drafted an advice for solicitors, conducting legal research on points of law and their application.
Rob Wagg, Chambers CEO, said, “Having benefited from guidance, insight and on-the-job advocacy training that is second to none, our pupils now rightly take the next step as they continue to develop outstanding careers at the Bar. We are proud to have them as part of our team.”
