New Park Court Chambers is pleased to announce that Emma Hughes has been appointed Deputy Head of the Family Team in support of Valerie Sterling, who remains Head of the Family Team.
Called to the Bar in 2015, Emma has a wealth of experience as a specialist family law barrister, in both public and private law proceedings.
Emma’s involvement in public family law proceedings often finds her representing local authorities, guardians and respondent parents in cases with allegations of neglect, failure to protect, sexual abuse and/or non-accidental injuries. Her practice has involves cases with international elements, including forced marriage protection orders.
She is also regularly instructed within private family law proceedings dealing Child Arrangement Orders to determine residence and contact for a child, specific issues and prohibited steps orders. Emma is able to deal with serious issues of domestic abuse, including sexual abuse, in a way that remains sensitive whilst still being able to challenge the evidence on both sides fully.
