Amber prosecutes and defends in cases relating to all aspects of the Criminal and Regulatory disciplines. She undertakes cases of increasing seriousness and complexity, in her own right and as a led junior.
Clients and solicitors alike have remarked upon Amber’s ability to engage and assure. She is regularly commended for her pragmatism and diligence.
During a period of time as a solicitor, Amber undertook all aspects of Criminal and Regulatory work. Her work included cases relating to Licensing, Trading Standards cases and Health and Safety matters. She was also known for additional specialisms in cases involving child neglect, Contempt of Court and cases relating to Animal Welfare. As a keen equestrian, Amber has a particular focus upon equine related matters in this area.
Amber enjoys a broad criminal practice in both defence and prosecution work. She is experienced in dealing with sensitive and difficult cases, including those involving vulnerable parties and issues.
Amber regularly undertakes advisory work across all aspects of criminal law, both pre and post charge.
Led by Chloe Hudson in the defence of a man accused of being part of a nationwide conspiracy to convert legal firearms and ammunition into lethal weapons:
Led by David Outterside in the prosecution of a three week trial, alleging Attempted Murder and Carrying a Firearm With Intent to Endanger Life. The case arose out of a gangland ‘drive by’ shooting in which the victim was shot twice, and the getaway vehicle found burnt out some distance away from the scene.
The case included presentation of complex evidence including that relating to cell site, DNA and firearms. It also featured detailed legal argument relating to bad character and joint liability.
Led by Tom Storey K.C. in the prosecution of a 10 handed ‘county lines’ case.
The case involved the analysis of a substantial amount of telephone evidence, as well as covert surveillance by undercover officers.

Amber represented one of eight defendants in a case before the Crown Court at Stoke on Trent.
A paper heavy case which involved complex expert evidence, the individual defendants and their companies were alleged to have been responsible for the illegal dumping of waste on a massive scale. Amber’s client, a company director, was acquitted in a unanimous verdict following an eight week trial.
Instructed to defend in a Youth Court case alleging a number of sexual offences. Amber’s client was acquitted of the most serious offences and received a community-based sentence.
Instructed to defend in a case alleging multiple historic sexual offences. The Defendant was acquitted of the most serious charges and following Amber’s detailed submissions on sentence, a Community Order was passed in relation to the remaining counts.
Instructed to defend in a multi-count case which alleged sexual offences against a young family member. The Defendant was acquitted on all counts in a unanimous decision.
Instructed to replace Defence Counsel at the closing speech stage in a multi-count case alleging historic rapes and sexual assault. The Defendant was acquitted of the majority of the offences. Amber’s submissions at sentence addressed a very recent Court of Appeal decision which related to sexual offences committed by very young Defendants. A favourable sentence was passed in the context of a challenging factual background.
Amber accepts instructions to prosecute and defend across the full spectrum of regulatory matters. This builds upon her substantial experience in this area as a solicitor, where she defended in cases involving regulatory investigations, prosecutions and enforcement.
Her practice included advice and representation in licensing matters (including those relating to premises, taxi and firearms) and matters before the Office of the Traffic Commissioner. She was also her firm’s sole expert in dealing with cases involving the Disclosure and Barring Service, acting for a wide range of clients including professionals when the DBS had said that it was ‘Minded to Bar.’
Amber has experience in dealing with Contempt of Court matters, arising out of varied areas of law.
Instructed to prosecute a company and a previous member of staff in a case centred upon the detail and effect of the Welfare of Animals at the Time of Killing Regulations.
In her inquest practice, Amber accepts instructions to represent core participants and interested parties, including organisations and groups as well as individuals. She has experience in being instructed at the outset of cases to provide advice and support from the earliest stages. Her experience of jury advocacy in criminal matters equips her to confidently deal with inquests involving a jury, though she also undertakes non-jury inquests as well as documentary inquests.
Amber is committed to undertaking work in both statutory and non-statutory inquiries. She recognises the need for an approach which guarantees accuracy, sensitivity and discretion.
Amber was part of a junior Counsel team supporting the work of Paul Greaney K.C, Nicholas de la Poer K.C. and the wider legal team. This included the completion of a large scale disclosure exercise in which the disclosure team assessed thousands of pages of evidence.
Instructed to represent a core participant in an inquest relating to the sudden death of an elderly man on a motorway.
Instructed to represent the family in an Article 2 inquest, examining the death of a man whom took his own life whilst imprisoned.
Instructed to represent the family of a young man whom died during a high speed pursuit by the Metropolitan Police.
Amber has experience in advising as to the prospects of Judicial Review in her own right, having assisted with such cases in her earlier practice. She is happy to receive instructions in this area in relation to matters with a criminal or regulatory aspect.
She is also happy to receive instructions in matters relating to the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, Prison Law and Extradition.
