At New Park Court Chambers, we do things a little differently. With 70 junior barristers and 16 King’s Counsel, our reach and influence stretches far beyond the bounds of our Circuit.
As a Tier 1 Set based in Leeds and Newcastle we are home to a number of high profile and nationally and internationally reputable Counsel.
Caitlin Smith is currently undertaking her second six in Chambers and accepts instructions across our key practice areas.
Caitlin commenced pupillage in September 2025, under the supervision of Chloe Hudson. During her pupillage so far, Caitlin has observed a wide range of criminal work, for both prosecution and defence. This includes murder, firearms, trafficking, serious sexual offences and domestic violence.
Prior to undertaking pupillage, Caitlin worked as a Court Clerk at Leeds Crown Court. This experience gave her in-depth exposure to a wide variety of Crown Court proceedings and a good understanding of criminal procedure, evidential issues and sentencing principles. Caitlin worked closely with the judiciary, learning about judicial decision-making in bail and sentencing and observed the strategic choices made by advocates, aiding the development of her own advocacy style.
Whilst at the Crown Court, Caitlin undertook specialised training on ‘Trauma-Informed Practice and Care’ for witnesses. Her involvement in recent service changes to the pre-recording of evidence in criminal trials has developed a clear appreciation of the issues faced by witnesses in criminal proceedings.
Caitlin has undertaken both youth and general advocacy training. She has also volunteered in pro-bono schemes such as Support Through Court, where she conducted one-to-one meetings with clients, often vulnerable individuals, to advise and assist with preparing for court hearings.
