Gabrielle joined Chambers following the completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Tom Storey and Eleanor Fry.
Prosecution Advocate. Half a day trial involving a 15-year-old witnesses. The Court rejected the Defendant’s version of events.
Defence Advocate. Defendant fell to be sentenced for one offence of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. Successfully persuaded the court that the term of imprisonment could be suspended.
Defence Advocate. Defendant attended 1 of 19 appointments. Persuaded the Court to impose an additional amount of unpaid to mark the breach, rather than activate the SSO.
Defence Advocate. Poor level of compliance from the Defendant with community element of the order. Persuaded the Court to impose an additional 5 RAR days to mark the breach, rather than activate the SSO.
Defence Advocate. The Defendant fell to be sentenced for 4 driving offences and had a total of 24 points on their license. Successfully persuaded the Magistrates to impose to minimum mandatory term of 6 months disqualification.
Defence Advocate. The hearing occurred pre R v Borsodi [2023] EWCA Crim 899. Successfully argued for the term of imprisonment to be suspended.
Defence Advocate. Offence: Driving a vehicle over the specified drug limit. After a half a day trial, special reasons were found. No period of disqualification was imposed, after submissions.
Defence Advocate, 2 x s39 Assault. Listed for trial. Crown sought an adjournment due to lack of an interpreter. This would have been the first adjournment in the case. I opposed. No adjournment granted. No evidence offered. Defence costs order obtained.
Prosecution Advocate. Day long appeal including legal submissions as to what amounts to obstruction of a police constable in the execution of their duty. Appeal dismissed.
Representing the Respondent. Listed for DRA. Negotiated an agreement in the client’s interests without further court involvement needed.
Represented the Applicant. Enforcement Application. Convinced the court to attach a power of arrest to the enforcement order, grant a Prohibited Steps Order and order a s34 Family Law Act 1986 Order.
