Jade has been recognised by the Legal 500 as a Tier 1 Leading Junior in Professional Discipline. She has been appointed as a Specialist Regulatory Advocate at Grade A and is a Tribunal Member (Barrister) for the Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service.

Jade has extensive experience in regulatory and disciplinary matters, particularly the fitness to practise of regulated professionals. Jade was a Case Examiner at the General Medical Council for 8 years and now regularly represents the GMC in fitness to practice proceedings. Jade represents regulated professionals at Inquests and in proceedings brought by their regulatory bodies. Jade’s case presentation before a Tribunal has been described as impeccable.

In her criminal practice, Jade regularly prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court.  Jade has a calm and reassuring manner with clients, and is skilled in handling vulnerable clients and witnesses.

Jade specialises in professional discipline and regulatory proceedings and has experience in dealing with all manner of fitness to practise concerns before regulators, including serious dishonesty, sexual misconduct, health concerns and deficient professional performance or substandard clinical care.

Jade was a Case Examiner at the General Medical Council for 8 years and now regularly represents and advises the GMC in fitness to practise proceedings against doctors.

Jade has particular interest and expertise in healthcare regulation. Jade is able to quickly understand, critically analyse and assimilate complex medical and expert evidence. During her time at the GMC as a Case Examiner Jade made fitness to practise decisions in all manner of clinical cases. Jade’s cases included fatal prescribing errors, obstetric injury, infant and maternal death, failures to diagnose or appropriately refer, consent issues, infant and adult sepsis and end-of-life care decisions. Her case experience covers a broad spectrum of complex medical procedures.

Jade also represents regulated professionals at Inquests and in proceedings brought by their regulatory bodies.

Jade advises and represents the Care Quality Commission at the First Tier Tribunal, in appeals against decisions to cancel or restrict the registration of CQC registered healthcare and social care providers.

Jade represents Social Work England in fitness to practice proceedings against Social Workers and has recently been appointed as a tribunal member (Barrister) for the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service.

Acted on behalf of SWE against a Social Worker, who faced serious allegations of forming an inappropriate relationship with a service user, and allegations of verbal and emotional domestic abuse. The Social Worker was erased from the register.

Acted on behalf of the GMC in case against a doctor who had falsified the medical records of a patient in respect of his care leading up to her death. The doctor was erased from the medical register.

Acted on behalf of the GMC in a case against a GP who was alleged to have carried out an inappropriate and sexually motivated examination of a patient who suffered with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Acted on behalf of the GMC in case against a Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon for allegations of dishonesty and substandard surgery and clinical care of 8 NHS patients. Dr M was erased from the register. This case involved the analysis of a substantial volume of medical records, clinical data and expert opinion on surgical techniques in breast reconstruction, lymph node biopsies, and appropriate prescribing in breast cancer patients.

Represented a Chartered Accountant in sanction proceedings brought by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, following his admission to an allegation that he had failed to provide information, explanations and documents formally requested by his Regulator.

Acted on behalf of SWE in a case against a social worker, involving allegations of dishonesty in a professional capacity. The social worker was removed from the register.

Acted on behalf of the GMC following the successful appeal of a doctor to the High Court regarding the decision to indefinitely suspend the doctor’s ability to apply for restoration to the medical register. The case was remitted to the MPTS and it was successfully submitted that the doctor should be indefinitely suspended from applying for restoration.

Jade has experience representing the interests of medical professionals, care providers and families at inquests and inquiries.

Acting on behalf of the family in an inquest touching the death of a high-risk pregnant healthcare worker during the COVID – 19 pandemic. The inquest involved the assessment of risk to exposure to COVID -19 in the workplace, and the care provided to the deceased during the medical management of COVID 19, obstetric emergency and sepsis.

Acting on behalf of a nurse who had provided private gastric band adjustments in the community to the deceased, prior to the deceased’s admission to hospital and subsequent death from complications of her gastric band. The concern was whether any of the care provided by the nurse had contributed to the patient’s death. The coroner concluded that there were no failings by the nurse and made no adverse findings about her care.

Acting on behalf of a nurse in a prison healthcare setting during the Covid – 19 pandemic, where there were concerns about the delay in identifying and treating the deceased’s deterioration. No causative findings were made against the nurse.

Jade regularly prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court and is a CPS Level 2 Advocate. Jade’s criminal practice is complemented by her work in professional discipline, in both areas she deals with cases concerning sexual assault, violence, fraud and dishonesty offences, domestic abuse and drug offences.

Jade has a reassuring manner with clients, and is recognised for her tact and sensitivity when dealing with vulnerable clients and witnesses.

Jade was defence junior in a grooming gang trial, where the defendant had learning disability and difficulties with communication.  Jade ensured he was able to meaningfully participate in his trial for serious sexual offences of which he was eventually acquitted.
