Background

Samantha Brown

Year of call 2024

Samantha Brown is currently undertaking her second six and accepts instructions across Chambers’ key practice areas. She commenced her pupillage in September 2025 under the supervision of Claire Anderson.

In her first-six, Samantha observed numerous types of criminal work, for both prosecution and defence, at a variety of levels. This includes murder, serious violent and sexual offences and drug offences. Samantha has shadowed a range of family work, in both private and public law, from initial client conferences through to final hearings. She has also observed regulatory cases, including Health and Safety.

Throughout pupillage, Samantha has reviewed case papers and drafted legal documents. Samantha has written Bar Standard reviews, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of cases and noting further steps required to become trial-ready. She has also drafted an advice for solicitors, conducting legal research on points of law and their application. Samantha has been instructed on several noting briefs throughout her first-six.

Samantha has completed the North Eastern Circuit advocacy training as well as The Inns of Court College of Advocacy (ICCA) ‘Advocacy for Children in Conflict with the Law’ course, focused on effectively representing children and young people.

Samantha was an advisor at Citizens Advice Bureau and undertook legal advice clinics during her Legal Practice Masters. Advising on a wide range of legal and social issues has helped her develop techniques for adapting to different audiences, including those from vulnerable and diverse backgrounds.

Prior to joining New Park Court Chambers, Samantha was involved in her family’s racehorse training business, establishing her own business retraining and rehoming retired racehorses.
