Ian Cook specialises in Criminal Law and has represented defendants in numerous trials on indictment including serious violence, drugs conspiracies and high value dishonesty cases at the Crown Court and at the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division).

Ian has been instructed as junior advocate on cases where the defendants have been charged with murder and manslaughter by gross negligence.

He joined Chambers in 2018 and after practising as a Higher Courts Advocate for 8 years.

Notable Cases

  • R v J - Arson

    Conducted trial for a defendant facing an allegation of Arson relating to the destruction of iconic Leeds City Centre building. The total damage was in excess of £6 million.

  • R v A - Drugs Consiracy

    Defendant charged as part of a multi million pound conspiracy to import, produce and distribute steroid products.

  • R v B - Murder

    Led by Paul Greaney QC where defendant faced allegation of Murder which was charged 14 years after the killing. Case raised interesting sentencing issues regarding the correct approach to adopt in sentencing such cases.

  • R v P - Car Ringing

    Defendant faced a trial in respect of an organized and sophisticated car ringing scheme valued at several million pounds.

  • R v C - Attempted Murder

    Represented a defendant charged with a domestic attempted murder.
