Professional Discipline

New Park Court Chambers has a long-standing history of conducting professional disciplinary matters and is recognised nationally for its expertise in this area.

The Professional Discipline team consists of King’s Counsel and Junior Counsel and is consistently ranked as a Tier 1 set by Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500, with Jason Pitter KC currently recognised as the only Tier 1 silk in this practice area outside of London.

Chambers advise and represent a number of professions in relation to disciplinary proceedings, in particular, but not limited to, medical professionals such as doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, paramedics, social workers, therapists and other professions such as solicitors, teachers, accountants and police officers.

Health Care & Social Care Regulation

Chambers has a long history of prosecuting on behalf of the General Medical Council and conducting fitness to practise hearings against doctors.

The Team is frequently instructed to attend upper tribunal hearings on behalf of the Care Quality Commission and they also act on behalf of Social Work England, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Royal College of Nursing. Other health care professionals represented include dentists, pharmacists and therapists.

Police Discipline

New Park Court Chambers is widely acknowledged for its work in this area.  Members of the team have vast experience acting on behalf of police officers and receive instructions from solicitors acting on behalf of the Police Federation.

They are instructed at an early stage of proceedings to advise on pre-charge and to prepare formal responses to allegations.

Sporting Regulation

The Team has experience advising sports professionals across a range of disciplines who are faced with both disciplinary and criminal investigations. This has included acting in several high profile matters, including the representation of the Football Association in proceedings against Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra by Paul Greaney KC.

The Team receive instructions from the Sports Resolution Council and sit on various sporting regulatory panels, including the British Horseracing Authority and the British Fencing Disciplinary Panel.
