In August of last year Sidney COX was brutally killed by a gang of men wielding shovels, machetes and a replica sword.
Alistair MacDonald QC, Chris Smith and Ben Campbell were involved in the prosecution of a trial earlier in the year which saw convictions for murder and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Today a further five defendants were given a total of 35 years and 2 months for their part in the events of that fateful day.
The case involved a careful synthesis of CCTV evidence and telephone call traffic together with expert analysis of cell-site data of more than a dozen mobile telephones.
