At New Park Court Chambers, we do things a little differently. With a total of 74 barristers, including 13 King’s Counsel, our reach and influence stretches far beyond the bounds of our Circuit.
As a Tier 1 Set based in Leeds and Newcastle we are home to a number of high profile and nationally and internationally reputable Counsel.
New Park Court has a long history of providing expert advice, drafting and advocacy services to professional clients based in Yorkshire, the North East and beyond.
Members of our specialist practice teams have conducted major litigation in all areas of civil work over many years and these cases are set out in their individual profiles. Members of the team are instructed by both claimants and defendants and have represented clients in county courts, 1996 Act Arbitrations, in all divisions of the High Court (Chancery, QBD, Family, including the specialist lists in the TCC and Commercial Court) and at appellate level. We accept instructions on a publicly funded basis and on a conditional fee basis, where appropriate. We have a number of members who are on the Treasury Solicitor’s regional civil panel.
The breadth and depth of expertise and experience is wide. For example (i) we have an extensive personal injury team with expertise in litigation from minor slipping accidents to catastrophic injuries suffered at work or on the road. (ii) Our clinical negligence practitioners provide advice on potentially negligent diagnosis and/or treatment by nursing staff, GPs and consultants. (iii) We also have seasoned practitioners who specialise in professional liability cases against e.g. surveyors, construction professionals (architects, engineers, QSs etc), lawyers, office holders and accountants. Our members also represent clients at Inquests, acting both for and against public bodies in cases involving schools, railways and major construction projects.
Experienced specialist practitioners are also available in the fields of Chancery, Commercial and Construction Law, Housing, Employment, Immigration, as well as members acting as accredited mediators and chartered arbitrators, adjudicators and conciliators.
Our barristers provide advice on issues of substantive and procedural law (including litigation, arbitration and ADR). They draft Statements of Case, Court Orders, Application Notices and Skeleton Arguments and appear regularly as advocates before a variety of Courts and Tribunals, including all divisions of the High Court and County Courts, and in 1996 Act Arbitrations. Members draft Interim Applications (including those in relation to interim and freezing injunctions, summary judgment, striking out proceedings and for Interim payments) and in relation to Appeals.
Our barristers are fully accustomed to assisting Solicitors and the parties with disclosure exercises, preparing witness statements, and reviewing expert reports, as well as providing sound legal and tactical advice. Individual members are ranked in the legal directories as leaders in their field of practice.
We are frequently instructed at the very early stages of a case and are able to bring cases to a satisfactory conclusion with timely and clear advice. We are often instructed in mediations and settlement meetings and where possible, obviate the need for any/further court hearings. Individual members also act as mediators.
