Adam Birkby successfully defends a police officer accused of misusing police computer systems and confidential information

01/10/2018

Adam Birkby, instructed by Peter Hampson of Slater & Gordon solicitors, appeared on behalf of a police sergeant in a special case hearing before the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Constabulary on 28 September 2018.

Adam’s client admitted improperly accessing police computer systems and misusing confidential information and furthermore, accepted that his actions constituted gross misconduct. However, Adam successfully persuaded the Chief Constable that in the particular circumstances of the case and the officer, a final written warning would be the most appropriate outcome, rather than dismissal without notice.
