Jason Pitter QC, Tom Storey, Nicholas Lumley QC and Geraldine Kelly appear in relation to the prosecution of a mother and her partner for the murder of her teenage son.

22/07/2022

Jason Pitter QC and Tom Storey prosecuted the trial of Andrzej Latoszewski and Agnieszka Kalinowska, both of whom were charged with the murder of 15-year old Sebastian Kalinowksi.

The Prosecution alleged that Sebastian had been subjected to 8 months of  abusive attacks at the hands of the Defendants before a severe infection developed from rib fractures caused during those attacks.  Sebastian died as a result of that infection.

The attacks had occurred between January and August 2021, following Sebastian’s arrival in this country from Poland to be with his mother in October 2020.  Many of the attacks were captured in hours of harrowing footage as the family home had been equipped with internal CCTV cameras.  As a result the case received widespread publicity.

The Defendants were both convicted of murder following a six-week trial at Leeds Crown Court.  The sentence hearing has been adjourned until October this year.

Jason Pitter KC and Tom Storey were instructed by Dan Lee of Leeds CPS (CCU)

Nicholas Lumley QC and Geraldine Kelly were instructed to represent Andrzej Latoszewski by Musa Patel & Co.
